I just realized someone is coming into my house while I'm at work, so I installed Yawcam last night to catch them. Apparently, they have been coming for quite sometime and like to come on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays (I am afraid that they are stalking me, since they are at the times and the weekdays that I work). I set the scheduler up for these days and times and added today (Sunday) so I can check to see if it is working, while I'm here at work. The first time I tried, the page would not come up and it says "The page can not be found". (I am using the address given http://173.17.76.30:8888/ and http://173.17.76.30:8081/ "MY WEB CAM!"). Since I enable Motion Detection, I figured that I wasn't online because there was no motion. Then I tried it again and the picture came up and streamed for a couple of minutes, but no one was in the picture and then went "Offline". Do you think they were there today and the motion started the camera? If so..it is escalating, as they don't usually come on weekends because my daughter is off school and usually in and out. (Not today, she's safe with a friend.) They usually watch porn movies and now are going online for porn...so that (amist other things) is how I know the days they have been in my house.
I tried to set up email alerts through Yahoo, but couldn't figure it out...today I got the suggested MSN Windows Live account and set it up to give me alerts if I get a new email. Now....In the "TO" field, I understand that I should put my MSN email address: ADDYSEAS@LIVE.COM. What do I put in the FROM field? I don't know what I'm doing! I'm getting panicky, as they should be coming tomorrow! My internet provider is MEDIACOM. Please help! The police say if I get a good picture or video, I should be able to prosecute. (They told me to lock my doors...which is kinda like locking the barn door after the cows have gotten out! They've already stolen my valuables...I have nothing else to lose...I want to see who is doing this and put an end to it!) Thanks for all your help in advance!!! |

Very weird story,
Someone is comming into your home every day you are going to work ? They watch movies, take everything valuable you have (but not your pc) .....

Seems a good idea to me. And install a burglars alarm. An insurance against thefth.
Anyway :

On-line means that you can watch the images (Http) and stream (Stream) from another computer (outside your home network). It's not the fact "motion/no motion" that determines you are on-line or not. So as first check, before we go any furder, Check if you are On-line. How can you do this ?

The help menu lets you open the help and getting started guides. Am I online? - Checks if your settings are correct so that other people can see you over the Internet. |
Let me know the result of this check

I haven't been online in a year and a half, so they probably figured the computer was shot...I was online 24 hours and they started hitting porn sites.
Yawcam is working....I can see inside my house from my office desk. Hopefully it's a slow day and I can monitor it. |

Youre on-line alright, I just checked the links :

So now, if i understand this well, You have to configure the send mail option. I don't know if it will be enough but you can start with this topic : Yawcam - Forward file output & Motion detection |

I gotta tell you, it made me feel a whole lot better that I could monitor my house. Felt good to know that no one was there...made it a lot easier walking inside. (Although they don't seem out to hurt me, just use and take my stuff.) Kudos to the person(s) that developed it.
My friends in the office are going to help me monitor it. Since, it's always been Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays, between 8:00am and 3:00pm (EST), it should be do-able. So if i'm unable to set up the email, they can just send a quick email to the addyseas@live.com address and it'll send a text message to my phone....and I can call the State Police.....now I just have to remember to have my phone on me!
We'll catch 'em....just a matter of being patient....and not letting my guard down. I would expect with Christmas approaching.....they'll be salivating at the gifts under the Christmas tree! Just pray that when they do come....they have that urge for porn and go over to the computer!
If they don't return.....then it's someone close to me....which will really suck.
Thanks for all your help. |

I have searched a bit for settings to use when you have a msn mail account. Here is what i found at singhalravi.spaces.live.com
| Quote: |
- Outgoing Server (SMTP Server): smtp.live.com
- Outgoing Server SMTP Port: 25
- Outgoing Server Authentication: Yes (On – Use POP username and password or Hotmail credentials)
- Outgoing Server TLS or SSL Secure Encrypted Connection: Yes (On or Required)
Tip (by Ravi): Outgoing Server of Hotmail also supports port 587, useful for people who encounters error for STMP due to ISP blockage or any other reason.
- User Name: Windows Live ID (e.g. user@live.com)
- Password: password used to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live service
Note: “Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” check box in Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail should not be selected. |
