Videophile II - File Inspector the new and improved lay out
Article is NOT finished ...."

The "file inspector" exist of 4different parts.

  • Specifications
  • Preview
  • Cataloguing
  • Segments


Since the renewed lay-out (d.d 14 october 2008) the different parts can be "collapsed and expanded" to fit better on a smaller screen.




  1. Specifications



    When you add files to the library, lot's of data is imported automaticly.

    • Filename
    • Location
    • File Size
    • Date
    • Duration
    • frame rate
    • Bitrate
    • Dimensions


    This data (apart from the "Location" - see : Videophile II - How to change file locations in ....) can not be changed by the user.
    The only actions available are :

    • Delete file/record from the library & Erase file from his location

    • Delete file/record from the library
      File is not erased from disk

    • Display file info with the application "MediaInfo"

  2. Preview


    Mini player screen & controls


    Mini player controls

    Not much description needed for this area.
    Self explaining feature. Playback of the opened files happens in this area.

    : With this button you open the selected file/clip

    : With this button you go to the start of the clip/movie or selection.
    This button has toggle behaviour.

    : With this button you go backwards 1 frame.

    : With this button you start/pause the opened clip.

    : With this button you can play the clip fast farwards.

    : With this button you go forwards 1 frame.

    : With this button you go to the end of the clip/movie or selection.
    This button has toggle behaviour.

    : With this button you can add/change the thumbnail stored in the library for the selected clip.
    The current frame will replace the old thumbnail.

    : With this/those button(s) you determine and save the begin point of a segment.

    : With this/those button(s) you determine and save the end point of a segment.

    : With the slide bar you can quickly navigate forwards and backwards to find a particular segment/frame.

  3. Cataloguing



    The "Title / Alias" and "Description" can be filled in by you.

    Quote:

    • Select the thumb in the list area.

    • Click the button of the mini player.
      The "File Details" area should be updated.

    • Dubbelclick the value area for the field "Title / Alias" or the field "Description" .
      The cursor shape has now changed to a vertical blinking line.

    • You can now type your comment / text.

    • By selecting / clicking another field the content will be saved.

  4. Segments
