VLC Media PLayer - USB Camera Capture video stream

One of the possibilities of VLC Media PLayer is capturing your webcam's video stream.
The webcam i momentary use is : Brand : MEDION, Type : PC-30.
Capture you webcam's stream you can realise via the wizard or manual settings.


  1. Capturing stream using the wizard :











  2. Capturing stream using manual settings :


    • Click this icon on your desktop.

    • VLC Media Player mainwindow is displayed.



    • Configure your capture settings.
      Take the menu option File / OPen Capture Device.



    • Select first your "Video device name" and "Audio device name".



      Check the option "Stream/Save".
      Click the to continue setting the options.

    • The "Stream Output dialogue box" is displayed.
      Check the "file" as output.
      Click the button to determine the location and give a file name.



      File name : CAPTURE_TEST_15_MP1V.MPG

    • Select the "Encapsulation Method"
      Set the "Transcoding options".



      Check "Video codec" and select mp1v as value.
      Check "Audio codec" and select mp3 as value.
      Click to continue.

    • Confirm the settings and begin the capturing.
      Click the button.




    The file CAPTURE_TEST_15_MP1V.MPG was recorded.
